Origin
Faugères is a relatively small but high-quality winegrowing region in the French Languedoc. The soils of Faugères are composed of extremely rugged schist that is tough for grape vines to penetrate and imparts the wines with a bracing stony character. Faugères reds are usually made with indigenous Carignan and Cinsault grapes blended with Rhône varieties like Grenache and Syrah. Wines from this region can be relatively difficult to find in the United States because the French buy most of them before they can be exported. Pairings

Winemaker
Château Chênaie is run by winemaker Eric Chabbert, whose family has controlled the property for five generations. The fractured schist vineyards are located high in the foothills of the Cévennes Mountains, near the small village of Caussiniojouls.
