Origin
Alsace is one of the most idyllic regions of France. Green and flower-strewn, its flatlands are interspersed with streams and orchards, its lower hillsides are bedecked with neat vineyards, and its hilltops are crowned with gentle forests. And it has a terrific climate for winegrowing. The Vosges mountain range shelters Alsace’s vineyards from the worst of the continental weather, keeping the weather cool but moderate—perfect for the white wine varieties for which the region is celebrated.
Pairings
The Domaine Allimant-Laugner Pinot Blanc has enough richness and intensity to pair with pork, poultry and creamy pasta dishes. But it’s not too heavy to accompany lighter fare like shellfish, an onion tart or a hearty main-course salad. Its combination of rounded body and cutting acidity makes it perfect for lobster, especially if served with a fruit salad or salsa.

Serve chilled (47°F)
Winemaker
Domaine Allimant-Laugner can trace its winegrowing history back to 1724. On its current property, in the center of Alsace’s densest wine region, Domaine Allimant-Laugner owns 2.5 acres of Pinot Noir vines and, more importantly, 28 acres of white wine varieties, with the emphasis on Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc. In Alsace, Pinot Blanc is seen as somewhat of an aperitif, the lessconsequential sibling of Pinot Gris. But many estates, including this one, take it more seriously, fashioning it into a structured, aromatic wine that can hold its place at the table.
The Wine
This wine showcases exuberant, expressive Alsatian Pinot Blanc at its best. Aromatics include passionfruit, guava and mango, inflected with a heady note of high-toned baking spice. The tropical fruit intensity continues in the mouth, where the wine has a succulent, almost thirst-quenching vitality. Big and mouthfilling for a white, it has a long and deeply concentrated finish.
