Origin
This wine comes from California's rugged Mendocino County, which lies north of Sonoma and Napa. Italian and Greek farmers settled this region in the late 1800s, bringing with them a variety of European grape vines. The coastal and inland valleys offer a wide spectrum of growing conditions, and just about any grape has a place in Mendocino where it will thrive. A range of Italian varietals prosper here, and Mendocino's veteran growers remain committed to cultivating them.
Pairings
Barbera is a medium-bodied red that's famously high in acidity, which makes it an ideal pairing for acidic tomatosauce pastas and pizza. It also has a subtle, earthy side that pairs well with mushrooms or a slightly gamy duck with a cherry and lemon zest sauce.

Serve at cool room temperature (62°F).
Winemaker
A very talented winemaker, Greg Graziano likes to do his own thing. He makes a wide range of wines under a number of different brands, but for the past 25 years he has consistently been one of the most passionate promoters and producers of Italian grapes in California, whether they are in or out of fashion. Graziano's Enotria brand features northern Italian varieties like Barbera, Dolcetto, Arneis and Moscato, while his Monte Volpe label produces wines made from Tuscan and Friulian grapes.
The Wine
Barbera has bright fruit and medium body with a flash of bright acidity on the finish. This outstanding new-world Barbera shows aromas of rose petal, graphite, cola, wet earth, cherry and plum, and bright orange zest, cherry, lavender and plum flavors that are generous in mid-palate and finish with taut acidity and polished tannins.
