Origin
The Marlborough district of New Zealand's South Island has skyrocketed to fame in the last 20 years, fueled primarily by its distinctive and compelling cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc. The region's extreme southern latitude breeds Sauvignon Blanc with concentrated and distinctly tangy gooseberry flavors coupled with the varietal's typical grapefruit and grass notes. Marlborough's first Sauvignon Blanc was unveiled in 1980, and since then this region has steadily refined its unique style.
Pairings
This vibrant, slightly herbaceous white is a good accompaniment to a smoked fish and citrus salad, mussels in white wine with parsley, or shrimp spring rolls with basil, lettuce and rice noodles dipped in a spicy peanut sauce.

Serve well chilled (47°F).
Winemaker
The Gunn family poured hard work and determination into the mostly unreceptive ground of the Hawkes Bay region for more than 60 years, until the early 1980s, when Alan Gunn, George Gunn's eldest grandson, suggested that the land had the potential to become one of the country's finest vineyards. In 1994 Alan and his younger brother, Denis, released their first wine under the family's own Gunn Estate label. Today they make wine from their home estate at Hawkes Bay and other prime New Zealand sites.
The Wine
This zesty white has aromas of Meyer lemon, gooseberry, ginger, grapefruit and custard. It has mouth-watering candied grapefruit, lemon zest, lemongrass and lime flavors that are refreshing with a brisk green tea note.
