The Sonoma Coast AVA is the coolest wine region in the country but one of the hottest in popularity. The Gap's Crown vineyard lies in an area known as the Petaluma Gap, where the Pacific fog works its magic in the morning and again in the evening, with lots of sun in between. There can be daily temperature swings of 40 to 50 degrees. This cooling effect results in lower yields and grapes that ripen later, developing complex flavors and fruity characteristics, while maintaining ideal levels of acidity.
Pair this medium-weight red with light and medium-weight protein dishes like veal roulade, ham, roast chicken or poached salmon.
Bryan Harrington makes Pinot Noir wines from five distinct California appellations. He is a true artisan, and his wines are both authentic and fruitforward. Harrington personally oversees all production decisions and much of the winemaking process himself.
The Gap's Crown Vineyard Pinot Noir is a dark, full-bodied expression of the varietal: rich and balanced with deep chocolate notes. It's fruity and boasts a nose of red cherry, dried cranberries and plum, rounded out by flavors of allspice, ginger and a hint of tea. Only 154 cases were produced.
