Origin
Sharing a border with Austria, Alto Adige, also known as South Tyrol, is Italy's northernmost region. The Dolomites and Southern Alps rise up to virtually surround the area, where meticulously kept vineyards blanket alpine valleys at elevations of up to 3,600 feet. While Alto Adige actually produces more red wines, it is best known for white wines that are as fresh and pristine as the region from which they come.
Pairings
While this bright and lively Sauvignon Blanc makes for a refreshing standalone aperitif, it is also a spectacular accompaniment to spring and summer fare, including salads, vegetable dishes, light pastas and grilled seafood. It pairs nicely with more acidic ingredients like lemon and lime juice, capers, green olives and fresh tomatoes, as well as zucchini and summer squash. Working with everything from assorted cheeses to guacamole or chips and salsa, it is a perfect addition to any indoor or outdoor summer soirée.

Serve chilled (48°F).
Winemaker
Andrian, established in 1893, is Alto Adige's oldest cooperative winery. It is comprised of many small growers, each bringing fine precision to their viticulture and winemaking. Sourcing from a broad array of both hillside and valley vineyards allows head winemaker Rudi Kofter to meld supple ripeness with penetrating focus. By focusing on reducing yields and producing more concentrated, flavorful wines, Andrian has honed a reputation for consistency and astonishingly high quality.
The Wine
This elegant, aromatic white wine is the product of warm sun and crisp alpine air. Aromatically, a virtual bouquet of jasmine, lemon and rosemary blossoms accompany classic Sauvignon Blanc notes of citrus and fresh herbs. Offering a seamless coalescence of Meyer lemon, melon, quince, lemongrass and wet gravel, the lively palate is an exercise in balance. While featuring pleasantly surprising richness up front, the wine finishes with a welcome mouthwatering snap of mineral-laden acidity.
