Origin
Rully is one of the most underappreciated sub-regions of Burgundy. The best Premier Cru sites of Rully produce some truly exceptional Chardonnay, and a number of very talented winemakers have chosen to focus their efforts on the limestone hillside vineyards of this northern appellation. Only about a quarter of Rully's vineyards enjoy Premier Cru status, and Grésigny is among the most regarded, making ripe, generously textured reds and whites.
Pairings
This Rully is a good match for rich, textured seafood like grilled or poached cod with a creamy sauce and a drizzle of lemon, broiled prawns or lobster with butter, chilled chicken curry salad or a dinner omelet with Gruyère, spinach and sautéed mushrooms.

Serve chilled (52°F).
Winemaker
Henri Jacqueson planted the domaine's first vineyards in 1946, and his hard work helped to establish Rully's reputation for quality. His son Paul has taken the reins in the last decade and continues to uphold the reputation of the estate's fine Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In 2007, the esteemed British wine critic Clive Coates included Domaine Jacqueson in his list of "All Time Top 10 Burgundy Estates" and called it "the best domaine in Rully, home itself to the best Chalonnaise wines."
The Wine
This white Burgundy is lovely now but will develop even more complexity over the next several years if properly cellared. It has a nose of lemon blossom and lemon curd, pineapple, thyme, cinnamon and nectarine. It is full-bodied with restrained lemon chiffon cake, white peach, honeysuckle and spiced almond flavors with a minerally, limestone-laced finish.
