Origin
Located between Santiago and the port city of Valparaiso, the Casablanca Valley is well exposed to the Pacific's morning fog and cool breezes, which are intensified by the icy Humboldt Current that flows up from Antartica. Planted in the late 1980s, Casablanca Valley became Chile's first cool-climate wine region, quickly gaining a reputation for its vibrant, mouthwatering white wines.
Pairings
This vibrant, varietally accurate Sauvignon Blanc fares best with foods that are aromatic, high in acidity and slightly spicy. It is the best wine choice with many soups, salads and green vegetable dishes, and the use of fresh herbs tends to complement the wine's innate herbal quality. But, if ever in doubt, just pull out some herbed goat cheese and a crisp baguette. Versatile, refreshing and easy to love, the Peñalolén Sauvignon Blanc should be the first thing into--and out of--the picnic basket this summer!

Serve well chilled (47°F).
Winemaker
Peñalolén was founded by vineyard owner Ricardo Peña and his wife, Isabel. The wines are made by winemaker Jean-Pascal Lacaze, well respected for his decades of experience and deft hand in producing memorable wines. Their vines are meticulously tended to guarantee the integrity of the fruit and the wine. Peñalolén, truly a family affair, is committed to making wines of value, character and distinction.
The Wine
This Sauvignon Blanc has Casablanca Valley's distinctive crispness and vitality. It has fruity aromas of Bosque pear, grapefruit, mandarin orange and freshly cut grass. On the palate, it is bright and fresh, with zesty tropical fruit flavors, balanced acidity and a clean finish.
