Origin
The Paso Robles wine country, part of California’s Central Coast American Viticultural Area, is located midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Home to nearly 30,000 acres of vines and over 180 wineries, it is California’s fastest-growing wine region. With greater day-to-night temperature swings than any other appellation in California, as well as distinct microclimates, diverse soil types and a long growing season, Paso Robles is blessed with ideal conditions for producing ripe, concentrated wines.
Pairings
Syrah partners well with robust braised foods and a diverse array of grilled meats. This mature, round but still robust offering from VitaLuce also makes an ideal match for spicier preparations. While it will enthusiastically share the table with full-flavored dishes, like rosemary-rubbed leg of lamb, it is charming and graceful enough to not overwhelm more subtle dishes, such as roasted duck breast with wild rice. Vegetarians will appreciate its flexibility with grilled eggplant, mushrooms and zucchini, as well as many styles of cheese, especially those crusted with fresh herbs or cracked pepper.

Serve at cool room temperature (64°F).
Winemaker
VitaLuce Cellars is a boutique winery operating in the heart of the famed Paso Robles region. The business was founded in 2001 by four accomplished entrepreneurs and executives who share a passion for fine wines. The team loves everything about Paso Robles and has united around a central theme: blending premium wines in the style of the great wine-making regions of France and Italy.
The Wine
Made from 100 percent Syrah from Halter Ranch’s hillside vineyard, this mature and ready-to-drink wine offers smoky aromas of ripe plum, cedar, tobacco and toasty oak. On the palate, flavors of blackberry, plum, caramel, white pepper and assorted baking spices. Polished by four years in bottle, the supple mid palate and resolved tannins set the stage for a long, satisfying finish.
