2016 Cantina Castiadas Capo Ferrato Cannonau di Sardegna DOC

Cannonau, a grape more recognized by its synonym, Grenache, is known as such on the Mediterranean oasis of Sardegna. This version from the rugged garrigue-laden island landscape has herb-tinged flavors of ripe strawberries, dark cherry and plum on the palate. While an intriguing wine on its own, it will really shine when paired with richer poultry dishes like duck and quail.

Napoleon III demanded a classification of Bordeuax's best wines, which was completed in 1855, and was based solely on market prices for the wines at the time. The rankings have remained unchanged except for Château Mouton, which more than a century later successfully lobbied to be promoted from Second Growth to First Growth.
